SPIRE has a commitment to support our local communities. SPIRE participates in some events and charities on an ongoing basis, and others as they come up throughout the year.
Give Back Committee
The mission of the Give Back Team is to provide support to groups of people within the communities we serve who may not otherwise have access to such support. Our goal is not to be the primary source of financial or other support for these organizations, but to rather fill in the gap in the support provided by other sources.
The 3M Championship is a golf tournament on the Champions Tour – a series of annual PGA TOUR golf events for golfers 50 years of age and older. The 3M Championship is played at the Tournament Players Club (TPC) in Blaine, a course designed by professional golfer and golf course designer, Arnold Palmer. To date, the 3M Championship has raised $17,500,000 for charity. The tournament is one of the largest donors on tour and the largest sports-related charity in Minnesota. The money goes to support programs at Allina's Abbott Northwestern, United, Mercy and Unity Hospitals. SPIRE has been a proud sponsor and ATM provider for eight consecutive years.
|Credit Unions for Kids is a nonprofit collaboration of credit unions, chapters, leagues/associations and business partners from across the country, engaged in fundraising activities to benefit 170 Children’s Miracle Network (CMN) Hospitals. Adopted as our movement’s charity of choice, credit unions are the 3rd largest sponsor of CMN Hospitals. One hundred percent of every dollar donated by members of the credit union movement goes back to the CMN Hospital which serves our community, our members. CMN Hospitals treat millions of children every year; in fact, it is the world’s largest children’s charity. Since 1996, the Credit Unions for Kids program has generated over $80 million for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. SPIRE has participated in various fundraising activities for CMN since 1997.|
The concept is simple, but the affects are profound. SPIRE members and employees have donated thousands of unwrapped toys over the years for those youngsters in need. Toy donations are accepted at all SPIRE branch locations during the holiday season.
Season of Giving
The holiday season is all about showcasing the phrase, “It’s better to give than to receive.” Every December, SPIRE partners with the Timberwolves’ FastBreak Foundation to bring a little extra cheer to children and teens in the Twin Cities region. SPIRE also helps to recognize individuals and organizations that are stewards to their community.
The Season of Giving features a branch toy drive for children at Amplatz Hospital; a Wolves player-escorted $1,000 shopping spree for teens waiting to be adopted; grants to deserving community organizations; and the recognition of deserving individuals via annual “Heroes in the Making” Awards.
SPIRE has been a proud sponsor and partner of the Season of Giving for three consecutive years.
